The Memory Project page 2

What is Amnesia?

Standing in front of the refrigerator, you can’t remember what you wanted or why you are there.
Amnesia is not about forgetting the past, but disorientation and problems remembering the future.

Memory Aids are prostheses designed to assist people with difficulties remembering information to manage
their personal lives. Anterograde amnesia is a memory deficit that impairs an individual’s ability to form
and retain new information after a brain injury. Memories before the injury can be recalled, but amnesics
have difficulty storing new memories. Disorientation is a major problem. Caregivers can cue amnesics, but alone,
the results can be devastating.
